I'm in this almost obsessive stoner / doom / sludge phase since a couple of months... "Slow and low, that is the tempo", as used to sing the Beastie Boys...

I also realised not long ago that black metal is,  after all, quite an interresting genre. Both musically and.... how should I put it... socially. ;D Can't listen to this for too long however, mostly because of this stupid rule stating that "the shittiest the sound,  the trver, grimmer and kvlter the band is"... most of the BM  I know lack any sort of low end... pity, really. :( However, I could listen to Impaled Nazarene for hours, but that's because their blend of punk a-la Exploited and BM is damn sexy. :-*

I was listening to Shaun's stuff, but before that I was listening to some Juno Reactor.  It's pretty good stuff.  I find that it can serve both the purpose of ambient music and be something that is a primary urgency that can hold your attention.  Interesting to me.

I just got turned on to Portishead and Massive Attack.  Before that I was stuck on The Rolling Stones, Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd for 3 or 4 years

Death - a rock band from the 70's.  Limited release.  A little on the obscure side, but freakin' awesome.
