An interesting comment in passing

I was talking with one of my Facebook friends today, Josh, and he sent me a link to his YouTube channel.  He has 83 videos posted of him singing various songs, mostly from the 60s-80s, and they're quite good.  That's not the issue however

What I wanted to say was he sings "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", which is a song from the viewpoint of a Southern farmer.  Josh is a college student from New York.  One of the lines from the song is "He was just 18, proud and brave/And a Yankee laid him in his grave" and it occured to me, in a different time, Josh could very well have been the very same Yankee that killed the singer's brother.

On the topic of sociomusicology however, are you implying that music such as this has changed the social climate so much that a Yankee can now sympathize with a Dixie? :p

Not, that's not my implication at all.  I'm not even really sure why I mentioned it, other than I thought it was interesting.

But I have to disagree. The band War kicks ass.
